Amys performance at the Brits.

excerpt from bbc.co.uk…..
“It also takes something special to eclipse Amy Winehouse these days, but he (Paul McCartney) managed that too. Making up for lost time after cancelled gigs and a spell in rehab, Winehouse appeared to be back on form and performed two songs.
In her first, singing Valerie with Mark Ronson, it took her a few bars, shimmies and tousles of hair to hit her stride.
In her second, Love Is A Losing Game, she hitched up her skirt, looked longingly into the camera and gently gyrated in front of the microphone stand - delivering a personal show for her jailed husband.
Her request at the end to “make some noise for my husband, my Blake”, though, fell largely on deaf ears.
But despite the diversion of her personal problems, Winehouse provided a reminder of her true talent.
The jazzy, unpredictable vocal journeys, the power and pain in her voice, the air of effortless artistry and enigma made all the night’s other singers seem quite plain by comparison.”
Winehouse helps Ronson through break-up

The RTE Website this morning…
“Singer Amy Winehouse is helping DJ and musician Mark Ronson to get through the recent break-up of a long-term relationship.
According to The Mirror, Ronson said that his friend has been very supportive towards him in recent weeks.
The 32-year-old DJ said: “It’s sad times for me at the moment. I was dating my girlfriend for three years but we split up.”
“I’m lucky I have good friends. Amy has been brilliant and is always there for me - and I’m there for her too.”
However, Ronson was quick to deny rumours of romance between the pair, saying: “no possibility”.
He added: “I am sick of talking about it. Amy is a friend.”
Winehouse ‘on road to recovery’

Amy Winehouse dedicated her awards to her family
Singer Amy Winehouse is “on the road to recovery” after being treated for drug addiction in rehab, her mother Janis has told GMTV.
She told the ITV breakfast show: “Amy’s coming back, she’s definitely on the road back.” Winehouse, who scooped five Grammy awards on Sunday, was unable to attend the Los Angeles ceremony because her visa was not agreed in time.
Mrs Winehouse said it was for the best her daughter did not end up going.
Solid family
“I think it would have been too much for her because all of the travelling and flying there,” she said.
“I mean seeing what the Grammys were like, I thought if Amy were there, she’d be a little girl lost in it,” she added.
The singer, who had already agreed to sing at the ceremony, had her performance beamed to California through a satellite link-up.
“As you saw, she looks good. She’s on the road to recovery,” said Mrs Winehouse.
Last month Winehouse checked into rehab after a film of the singer apparently smoking a crack pipe emerged.
Mrs Winehouse admitted the whole family had feared for her health.
“She was sort of with it but not with it. She’s got a solid family and we’re all there for her,” she said.
“I was helpless because there was nothing I could do. Amy had to do it for Amy and that’s the way it is.”

Amy recovering (apparently…)
by admin on February 13th, 2008
Amy Winehouse’s mother Janis has spoken about her daughter’s Grammy success, saying that she believes the singer is on “the road to recovery”.
Winehouse picked up five Grammy awards but could not attend the ceremony in Los Angeles because of visa problems. She performed at the event via satellite from London.

Speaking on ‘GMTV’, Janis Winehouse said: “Well, as you saw, she looks good and it’s a case of she’s on the road, and that’s what it’s about, she’s on the road to recovery.”
“I think it would have been too much for her because all of the travelling and flying there, I mean seeing what the Grammys was like… we could see it live from there and I thought if Amy were there, she’d be lost in it, she’d be a little girl lost in it.”
Speaking about her daughter’s Grammys performance, she said: “Well, it’s Amy coming back, she’s definitely on the way back.”
The star’s mother also spoke about her fears for her daughter’s health before she entered rehab, saying: “She was sort of with it but not with it, and that’s the thing where I think fortunately, thank goodness in our family, she’s got a solid family and we’re all there for her.”

Amy Winehouse was the big winner at the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles last night, winning awards in five categories.
The singer won the awards for Best New Artist, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Female Pop Vocal Solo performance (all for ‘Rehab’) and Best Pop Vocal Album (’Back to Black’). She performed two songs at the show via satellite.
However Winehouse was prevented from a clean sweep in the six categories in which she was nominated when Herbie Hancock won the Album of the Year award for ‘River: The Joni Letters’.
